So, this Blogaversary isn't just about me but YOU and the impact this blog is making in the lives of millennials everywhere. Here's to another year of learning and growing and glowing up! This past week, I had the pleasure of battling the seasonal flu because well everyone and their mother had it, so I got it! But lucky for you that allowed me the time to binge watch Netflix and create a list of favorites and reasons you should watch too. You can thank me later when you are knee deep in popcorn and running to the store for more wine!
Friends are the special people that God places in our lives to get us through this journey of life. Some times that presence in forever and some times only for a season. But I believe that no matter the time you have with them, it should be cultivated with love and gratitude. Though it may not always be easy, loving others and being loved is the very thing that keeps our hearts beating.

In the last two to three years, the natural movement has taken over the mainstream (well, everything!) and I don't think its changing any time soon. From the harsh chemicals that we've used in our hair for centuries plus the over prices appointments to the salon has us relaxed girls running to find a better alternative. Here to discuss all things natural hair is my very own sister, who has been a part of the movement long before it was ever a movement.
PSA Alert! If you don't have health insurance or on your parents plan, this post is for you!!! In the last few years there have been so many changes to the healthcare system and the people being affected the most are the millennials so we need to keep ourselves educated and updated!
My 25th year was nothing short of amazing! I launched Ana Jane the Blog and made a major career change. Along the way, I learned a few things about this thing we call life and in Ana Jane fashion I am going to share each and every one of them with you.
Today begins the first day of my 26th year of life. I've seen such tremendous growth within myself over the last 12 months and I know that I can only grow further from here. With that being said, here are 27 "goals/plans" that I want to accomplish prior to my 27th birthday next year. Some are pretty simple and others are beyond crazy (for me!) and I can't wait to get started. I know that with each new experience comes knowledge that I can share with you here on Ana Jane. I look forward to the next 12 months and I hope you follow along with me.

Whether it be to start your own business, move up in the company, or just to move on to a completely new endeavor. It's important that you leave your job in good standing for many reasons. Though it may not be easy, here are a few pointers on how to leave your current job without burning any professional bridges.
Summers have always been a time of great leisure and relaxation for me (up until I got a job) that consisting of traveling for family vacations and trips to see friends! But no matter my location, I try to find time to read a book or two. Check out my list below of summer reads, hopefully I'll inspire you to pick one up!
Everyone can resonate with the statement, "Mondays suck!" But I've found that they actually don't have to if you plan accordingly. Using Sundays nights as a prep day for Monday can leave you feeling accomplished and free before you even walk out the door. Here I've listed three steps to making your Monday morning a breeze!
In this day in age, more and more "adults" are living at home with their parents after graduating from college. All for various reasons. Whether it be to save money, helping out with bills, or just better than living alone. But there may come a time that you decide to move out and venture out on your own. Here are a few tell-tale signs that its time to leave mom and dad.
As a native Floridian, there are certain things that you are accustomed to that the rest of the country may not understand…. alligators, weird news stories, five minute rainstorms, and HURRICANES! I experienced a few as a kid and was always excited for the days off from school (maybe even a week if the power went out). But as an adult, it is probably one of the scariest things I've been through. I wasn't really sure how to prepare in advance and my parents were extremely non-chalet about the whole thing. So for my millennial and new Southeast residents, here is a quick guide to preparing for a hurricane.
Mark Twain wrote "The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why." Today, I have invited Sharmez Rolle of Operation BeYOUtiful Movement, a non-profit girls mentoring program, to talk about finding your passion and purpose in life. At a young age, she knew that she was called to help empower and inspire others and she has done just that.
Whether you are graduating from college or ready to leave your entry level position in the dust, I have a few resources to help you create a top notch cover letter and resume and finding the jobs that you actually want to apply for. While I am no expert myself, I've been through the process enough times to write a book. But for now, this post will do.
Some time last year, I came up with the brilliant idea of pursing a Master's Degree, not just any Master's but an MBA from a prestigious private school. While this endeavor is one that can be admired by most people, this wasn't the appropriate time or place to start the second leg of my educational career. But with all mistakes comes a lesson to be learned. So here are 5 lessons I learned from being the dreaded grad school dropout!
Money can't buy you happiness but it sure can make life a little easier....if handled correctly. I have the pleasure of reading Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry prior to the release date. As I read, I was extremely engaged. I'm sure that my family got tired of me talking about budgets, IRAs, and everything else that Erin was teaching me! I wanted to sure this wealth of knowledge with the world all while getting my financial life completely in order. I couldn't say enough good things about this book and the author that created it! But here are a few lessons learned from the Broke Millennial herself.
There is a special kind of magic that happens when you find friendship in the church. Your friends become more like family and you begin to feel like you are in the exact place that you are supposed to be in. I've found that there are so many benefits to having friends in the church that you just can't get anywhere else.
Dating...a courtship between two strangers over a meal or movie. Okay, so may there is more to it than that but you get the jest. For me, dating wasn't something that I experienced until my mid twenties and it was interesting to say the least. There were definitely things that I learned so of course I had to share them with all of you!
The time has come! You've graduated and moved away from your college town. Now what....I am going to be frank! Making friends as an adult is super hard. Gone are the days of your best friends being in the residence hall next to yours and having sleepovers just because. We have to put on our big girl panties and go to work every day but still find time to make new friends.
At this point, I am pretty sure that everyone that has an internet connection has seen the #HurtBae video. It features a girl that confronts her ex boyfriend about the reasons for cheating on her. At best this video is absolutely heart breaking at worst it's infuriating. After watching, I thought back on my own personal experiences and all things I wish I could have told myself.
March has been a busy month and last weekend was no exception! I had a full schedule from Friday to Sunday and I loved every minute of it. I've found that if you are busy doing what you love with people that mean the most to you then you really aren't busy, you are just having fun!
Now that our taxes are done. We have yet another elephant in the room. CREDIT SCORE! Credit can be something tricky and confusing but the best way to fight it is knowing the secret tricks of the trade. I've been dealing with improving my credit for the last year and I am sharing all the secrets that I've learned.
Tax season is here and the pressure is on to complete the process without any pains or mishaps. At least it is for me. The rules of the game changed since becoming an adult and we can no longer hide under the dependent status of our parents. Thankfully, I went into the trenches early and learned a few things from a tax professional that will help us in this new and scary endeavor.
Holidays are my favorite! Its a time when you get to be crafty and then share love with the people around you. Valentine's Day is no exception, well except for people who aren't in a relationship! In comes an #alternativeholiday (which is way better than #alternativefacts!) Galentine's Day! A day to celebrate your best girlfriends that hold you down no matter what. How great right?! But what do you give your bestie for such a holiday, I got you covered!
Welcome to the first edition of "Weekend Snapshot", where I recap my weekend with pictures and a small blurb on the events that I attended or just simple things that I've done. This weekend was a weekend of first! In 2017, I have set out to become more fearless and that includes doing things that I would have never said yes to before. I can't wait for all of you to be a part of this journey with me!
If someone asked me, "what's the worst part of being an adult?" I would have to say dealing with my finances. Gone are the days of refund checks and calling mom to order pizza when you don't have any food in the fridge. This is real life adulthood and I am still not completely sure how to manage it. But like most adult things, it doesn't care if you are ready. You just have to do it.
Cleaning...a dreaded task but a necessary one indeed. Especially in the New Year, there is something about have a clean space within the first few weeks of the year to really put you in a good space. When your physical space clear so is your mental space (i.e more room for creative fun ideas!)
As 2016 comes to an abrupt close, I can't help but reflect on the year and all that it had to offer. It makes me think of the Beyonce song "I Was Here". I was here, I showed up every day and fought for the things that I wanted. I had to jump over a few hurdles but in the end, I made it and I hope that the world was left a little bit better because I chose to keep pushing. In honor of the year, I am recapping some of my biggest achievements in 2016!
